Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions govern the use of the Metrify platform provided by Metrify Survey Solutions GmbH.

2. Scope of Application

These Terms apply to all users of the Metrify platform, including individual researchers, students, research groups, universities and other organizations using Metrify for survey-based research.

3. Purpose of the Platform

Metrify provides a workspace for survey-based research. Users can create, organize, manage and reuse measurement scales, response scales, questionnaires, research projects, structures and related research assets.

4. Accounts and Access

Access to Metrify requires a user account. Users are responsible for keeping their login credentials confidential and for all activities conducted through their account.

Metrify may restrict, suspend or terminate access if a user violates these Terms, misuses the platform or compromises the security or integrity of the service.

5. Subscriptions, Pricing and Payment

Metrify offers different subscription plans, including individual plans, team plans and institutional arrangements. Current pricing is displayed on the pricing page.

Payments are due according to the selected plan. Unless otherwise stated, subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.

Taxes, including VAT where applicable, may be added or shown according to the applicable legal requirements and payment setup.

6. Research Starter and Beta Access

Metrify may offer limited-time access options such as a Research Starter plan or beta access. Such offers may be limited in duration, availability, functionality or number of uses per person.

Beta features may change, be limited or be discontinued. Users should not rely on beta features as permanently available production functionality.

7. User Content

Users may create, upload or manage content within Metrify, including measurement scales, response scales, questionnaires, project information, structures and research data.

Users remain responsible for the legality, accuracy and appropriateness of the content they create, upload or process through Metrify.

8. Rights to User Content

Users retain their rights to the content they create or upload to Metrify, unless otherwise agreed.

By using the platform, users grant Metrify the rights necessary to store, process, display, transmit and technically operate the content within the platform for the purpose of providing the service.

9. Measurement Scales and Licensing

Users are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights to create, upload, use, share or publish measurement scales, translations, items, response formats and related documentation within Metrify.

Where scales are shared with other users or made available through the Global Repository, the user must ensure that such sharing or publication is legally permitted and does not infringe third-party rights.

10. Global Repository

Metrify may provide a Global Repository for measurement scales and related research assets.

If users submit content for publication in the Global Repository, they grant Metrify a non-exclusive, worldwide right to store, display, reproduce, technically process and make the submitted content available through the repository.

After publication, Metrify may retain the right to archive and provide access to the published content in the interest of scientific transparency and traceability, unless mandatory legal reasons require removal.

11. Sharing Between Users

Metrify may allow users to share scales, response scales, questionnaires or other research assets with other Metrify users.

Users are responsible for deciding what they share and with whom. Shared content may be used by recipients according to the permissions granted within the platform and any applicable license terms.

12. Research Data and Participant Data

Users are responsible for the lawful collection, processing and analysis of research data, including participant data collected through questionnaires or projects.

Users must ensure that their studies comply with applicable data protection law, research ethics requirements, consent obligations and institutional rules.

13. Data Export and API Use

Metrify may provide data exports, codebooks, project identifiers and API access, including access for use with R.

Users are responsible for using exported data and API access lawfully, securely and in accordance with applicable research and data protection obligations.

Metrify may limit, modify or suspend API access where necessary to protect service stability, security or fair use.

14. Availability and Changes to the Service

Metrify aims to provide a reliable platform but does not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

The platform may be updated, improved, restricted or modified over time. Features may be added, changed or removed, especially during beta or early access phases.

15. Acceptable Use

Users must not misuse Metrify, interfere with platform security, attempt unauthorized access, upload unlawful content, infringe third-party rights or use the platform for purposes that violate applicable law.

16. Intellectual Property of Metrify

The Metrify platform, including its software, interface, design, structure, branding, documentation and related materials, is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.

Users receive only the limited right to use Metrify according to their subscription and these Terms.

17. Warranty and Liability

Metrify is provided with reasonable care. However, Metrify does not guarantee that the platform will meet every individual research requirement or be free from errors at all times.

Liability is limited according to applicable law. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, or liability where limitation is not legally permitted.

18. Termination

Users may cancel their subscription according to the applicable plan conditions.

Metrify may terminate or suspend access if users materially violate these Terms or if continued access would create legal, security or operational risks.

19. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, unless mandatory consumer protection rules or other mandatory laws require otherwise.

20. Changes to These Terms

Metrify may update these Terms from time to time. Users will be informed of material changes where required.
